The case of the missing notifications

I keep forgetting to post about this: we've been troubleshooting the "missing notifications" problem for the past few days. (Well, I say "we", really I mean Mark and Robby; I'm just the amanuensis.) It's been one of those annoying loops of "find a logical explanation for what could be causing the problem, fix that thing, observe that the problem gets better for some people but doesn't go away completely, go back to step one and start again", sigh.

Mark is hauling out the heavy debugging ordinance to try to find the root cause. Once he's done building all the extra logging tools he needs, he'll comment to this entry. After he does, if you find a comment that should have gone to your inbox and sent an email notification but didn't, leave him a link to the comment that should have sent the notification, as long as the comment itself was made after Mark says he's collecting them. (I'd wait and post this after he gets the debug code in but I need to go to sleep and he's not sure how long it will take!)

We're sorry about the hassle! Irregular/sporadic issues like this are really hard to troubleshoot because it's impossible to know if they're fixed or if they're just not happening while you're looking. With luck, this will give us enough information to figure out the root cause for real this time.

I overheard an interesting conversation while at a coffee shop in Amberfall this afternoon.

[Interesting enough that it seems he wants to bring it to everyone's attention.]

Two customers debating over whether or not water has a 'taste'.

[And what a funny thing to have a debate over to begin with.]

And I found myself curious as to which side most people would fall on in such an argument... as well as if anyone else here experiences water in the same way that I do. [Now, that's the real point of this.] As something that carries memory, the experience and emotion of everything it has passed through. The water from each region of this world is entirely unique to me in more ways than its flavour profile.

[A brief pause.]

Such an... ability is unusual in my home world. I have never thought to ask if others here have it.

The video feed is, strangely, of a television set. One with large cyan on red eyes and a wide smile showing on it's screen. It has antennae sprouting from the top of it and... wait... is that shoulders? A neck? The TV's smile widens, showing rows of sharp teeth. The figure leans back in his chair, spreading his arms wide for a moment as he does.

"Hello, Ellipsa!" Bright and cheerful, his tone is friendly and warm. "I figured it was a good time to introduce myself and start getting the word out there~"

He straightens forward again, folding his hands on the desk, neatly.

"My name is Vox and I'm the founder and CEO of Voxtek, the most trusted and influential name in entertainment and technology! At least, back where I come from it is, of course. I've been informed that I was brought here to help out with the Darkness plaguing this world and, while that's a noble cause and all, I also come with a set of talents that could be used for so much more!"

He brings his hands up, steepling his clawed fingers together.

"First and foremost, I am a journalist and entertainer. I'm planning to start not only a regular news and information broadcast service, I would also like to begin creating new and exciting television and streaming shows! We may all be here to help save the world but why shouldn't we also be entertained and dazzled at the same time?"

He gestures at the screen with his held together hands.

"That's where you all come in! I'm looking for talent! Theater. Music. Arts. Film. But also things such as technology and computer science! The people of Ellipsa deserve the very best of tech not only to take on their dangerous missions but also for their downtime! I'm looking for inventors and creators. People who want to make waves in the world of technology. Together, we can bring Ellipsa a brighter future in more ways than simply fighting this Darkness!"

He smiles, charmingly, bringing a hand to his chest.

"I built a company that brought joy and information to the hopeless masses once. Here, I have the opportunity to do something similar. I hope you all will join me and get in on the ground level of the new Voxtek~"

[He is in a forest, somewhere near the Autumn segment based on the color of the leaves in the distance. Xingchen is usually prompt in speaking to his communicator, but not this time. His eyes are wide, darting from the right to the left and then up as if he sees something others cannot.]

I...don't remember...

Where did you come from?

[An Ice Maiden is following him, a cool smile on her lips as she weaves her magic. Frost clings to Xingchen's white robes and his steps become sluggish. He drops Shuanghua and turns just in time avoid the Maiden's embrace.]

St-Stop! I'm...cold.

[Freezing, actually, as the frost turns to ice and creeps up his body.]

Hello everyone! It's coming up to the time of year we usually hold the Arts Festival, and unfortunately poor Ren is unable to put everything together at the moment. So! I have been collaborating with Rinku, Lisia, and Tsumugi to make sure we're able to bring the festival to you as usual this year.

[She claps her hands together.]

Now, we obviously can't do this all by ourselves, so we will be looking for assistants and, of course, participants! Artists, crafters, potion-makers, photographers, everyone is welcome at the artists' market. We will also have a stage set up for performing arts, a talent show, and dance. There will be food stalls, and plenty of games to play.

[And the Arts Festival wouldn't be complete without its usual tournament bouts.]

Naturally we will also be hosting the combat tournaments. They are a little different this year so make sure you read the entry conditions carefully before signing up. Lisia is also organising a Pokémon contest!

Arts Festival Plotting Post

Arts Festival 218
(that's 2026 for us players)

The Arts Festival is an annual tradition founded in Amberfall but currently held in the Titanic Dome on the last weekend in April (so the 24th-26th this year). It celebrates art of all kinds, with an artists' market that allows the sale of everything from paintings to potions to handmade weapons and armour, a stage for performing arts, a dance floor, and a talent show. But there are other elements to the festival too, like the popular fighting tournaments, some non-combat tournaments, and plenty of food stalls and festival games.

This year's Arts Festival is a team effort, being put together by Guizhong

contestidol, actors and tech crew assembled by Tsumugi

tsumtsuki, and assorted volunteers! This is an OOC plotting post for its various events and things you may want your characters to do for it.

All of the tournaments have a base reward of:
3rd Place: 200 moon coins
2nd Place: 500 moon coins
1st place: 2000 moon coins & a mystery gift

Signups for all the tournaments ends Thursday, April 23, 23:59 Pacific Daylight Time. The results will be RNGed and be revealed on an OOC post once the festival log goes up.

If you forgot or just couldn't make it somehow, we have one week grace period where you can app back as normal! So you can app back before April 7th, 23:59 PST! After that you will have to wait a month before applying back to the game (so after May 1st)!

Special Surprise

Thanks to the efforts during the Nega-Ellipsa mission, everyone gets a small package in their favorite/signature color. Inside there's a plant of their favorite fruit/vegetable that will never die and will produce seven of said fruit/vegetable every week. This is a miniature plant they can put on a windowsill but the produce will be normal sized.

so as stated here, on april 7th kokichi will be hosting a grand opening event for his casino with a surprise theme! and that surprise theme is murder mystery manor.

a "murder" occurs, the doors are locked so that the culprit (and party goers) can't escape, and an investigation takes place!

this is going to be a sort of mini murder game style thing where characters will get to investigate clues, interrogate suspects, and hopefully find the culprit who committed this dastardly deed! however it's not going to be as in depth as a true murder game murder simply because kokichi wants it to be short and fun. it'll be one log with top levels for the actual murder mystery part, while the main part of the log can be used for reactions, mingling, etc.

along with free food and drinks for the night, everyone who shows up gets 1000 moon coins as participation as well cut from the casino's profits, whether they go gamble or not, collectible on their way out the door, along with some silly souvenirs.

there are no sign ups involved as this is mainly just an ooc heads up as to what the "secret" theme and prizes are, and if you have any questions feel free to ask on this post!

So, as I'm sure a lot of people remember, this past February a group of brave Otherworlders decided to try and take out the Hearts Gang for the pretty awful things they were doing to people, yeah? And then they just totally wiped them and their entire operation out! Just BAM, gone! Obliterated! And that means we're all a little bit safer now, and I'm sure a lot of people have enjoyed that feeling at least a little, right? Probably without even realizing they have been!

Well, I wanna enjoy it in a bit of a different, more active way~ With one of those underground casino groups gone, now feels like the perfect time to formally introduce to you 大吉の円光.

Daikichi no Enko is a casino and lounge I've been working on establishing in the middle of Nightwake that will be opening very soon. I, as the owner and manager who is also an angel, personally guarantee a safer and more relaxing atmosphere to enjoy yourselves in. No one will be dragged away to be harassed or tortured by lowlife criminals for any reason under my care. Plus, we simply won't be allowing our guests to go into debt in the first place.

Our first floor lounge and bar is where you'll be able to enjoy talented entertainment of all kinds and a super delicious food and drink menu that will never bore you, whether you're here to play or not~ (And if you want to gamble just a little without heading upstairs or breaking the bank, I can't wait to introduce you to the omakase experience and neither can our chefs~)

I won't try to sell you on the gambling floors because a casino is a casino, we provide the games and machines you're expecting so if that's you're thing you're sure to have fun. I will mention, however, that I've added some fun optional house rules and challenges to a lot of them that will help make things a little more interesting!

Every month we'll be hosting themed events that you're invited and encouraged to fully immerse yourself in, with our very first one being held April 7th for our grand opening! What's the theme, you ask?

That's a secret! But as a little teaser it involves food and drink on the house for the whole evening as well as prizes simply for participating that won't be offered for any future events! And don't worry, no costumes needed or dress code to follow for this one~

But, whether that's enough to interest you or not, if you visit us soon or stop by on a whim or simply never set foot in our establishment, and to those of you who may have no interest in us at all or even hate us for the most understandable to the most irrational reasons~
